Maria Rosce

The Mineral Faces series stems from the idea of using mineral stones in jewellery shops, because mineral stones and crystals have souls and are alive. Known since antiquity for their potential, mineral stones release in the human body, on planes defined as physical-emotional-mental and spiritual, bringing balance and harmony.

In this series I used Amethyst (SiO2) , Aquamarine (Be3Al2Si6O18) & Emerald (SiO3) for 3 different characters that I drew inspired by the story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by Lyman Frank Baum in 1900.

The series is the result of a collaboration with the creator of Gioielli Unici, Patrizia Bongiorni, who selected stones to enrich and personalise them, adapting them to the characters depicted by the artist Maria Rosce, who made them using antique paper, oil colour, copper wire, locks of natural hair and gold leaf together.
