Maria Rosce

The idea for the Alieni series was born in February 2019, in the basement of the Pinacoteca di Brera. Here Maria, discovers a deposit of old postcards that for more than seventy years lie sedimented under layers of impalpable beauty. In this new series called Aliens in Babylon (Babylon was a city in ancient Mesopotamia) used gold foil, symbolising a connection between the ancient and modern worlds.  You can see Giunko Biloba leaf is a symbol of peace. In this series there are characters named Harut, Hoopoe of Solomon, Cosmic Egg, Lady.

Aliens catapulted into the modern world, where the contrast between signifier and signified remains strong.

Technique: natural pigments, acrylic tempera, epoxy resin, Palosanto powder, wood glue, copper wire, gold leaf, graphite, Japanese ink.
