Nature unfolds through invisible laws, shaping spontaneous architectures and pure forms. It multiplies into intricate structures, hinting at infinity.
Scarabei was born from the observation of nature and its language of growth and transformation, inspired by the natural processes of propagation —a dialogue between repetition and freedom, diversity and uniqueness, where light and matter merge into a living presence.
We envisioned an organism in constant expansion, a natural growth that transcends aesthetics, guided by the principles of symbiosis and interdependence.
Each element of the Scarabei collection is shaped to evoke changing and vibrant surfaces, and dense forms, like the iridescent bodies of the scarabei (scarabs). We experimented with raw and vibrant textures to convey a sense of organic growth. We studied different morphologies, creating masses with aluminum scale modeling and using the ancient sand-casting technique to make every piece singular and unrepeatable.
At the heart of this collection are its faceted surfaces—concave domes of varying dimensions that capture and reflect light with organic fluidity. Their aggregation follows no rigid schemes; instead, each luminous composition pulses like a living entity, shifting and evolving.
No two pieces are alike. Every cluster is a unique fragment of a growing ecosystem, interacting with and adapting to the space it inhabits. We wanted the light to feel alive, filtering through the aluminum domes and the pulegoso glass diffuser, never static but vibrating, spreading, and breathing—fusing with the material to create an ever-changing sensory experience.
Scarabei is a luminous organism, a creation that evolves within its space, embodying the rhythm of light, structure, and materiality. A fragment of nature, carrying its breath within.
