The lighting fixtures included within the gallery highlight the essential approach of the work done by the studio, with the aim of emphasizing the architecture of the spaces through light projection. The shapes that emit light are revealed from the moment they are turned on, through different types of light projection and the effects of reflection on opaque structures, remaining suspended and neutral in relation to the architecture that houses them. All the models on display are unique and numbered, made to the studio's order by artisans with specific creative skills.
Susanne Kutter's new work, conceived and created specifically for the Milan gallery space, is unfolds as a single installation around the theme of the precariousness of vision. What drives us from an early age to separate ourselves and the world? By what perceptual mechanisms do we distinguish the other from ourselves? And finally, how and in what terms can we evade this natural law and think about blending in to the point of almost disappearing traces of our presence?
Starting from the ambivalence of the conventions of seeing, Susanne Kutter's art makes a sign of difference, also analyzing, with winking malice and sharp irony, architectural concepts and spatial solutions identified as devices of control or vehicles of authoritarianism.
