Fornice Objects explores the link between material research and the use of the latest
generation of modeling softwares applied on analogue printing techniques.
The motif of the vase dates back to the memory of a trip to India, from which it takes its
name.
The exhibition of vases is called 'Mitti', soil in Hindi.
Mitti is part of the collective exhibition Roots to Matter, a reflection on the practice of
design in its connection with the cultural and material roots of the designers.
The India Vases collection explores different palettes and surfaces using unfinished
stoneware that feels like sand to the touch.
The Mumbai Vase plays with shadows just like the wet sand enriches the visual depth
of the dunes.
Each piece is slowly crafted with machinery and hands, silently negotiating two
contradictory elements, such as porcelain and 3D printing.
To break up the rough porosity of stoneware and porcelain, two pieces in collaboration
with Bottega Vignoli will be presented.
The strong iridescent reflections of Bottega Vignoli blend with the sharp, rough surface
of the walls of the pleated vases by Fornice Objects.
