Accademia Teatro alla Scala

In the heart of Milan Design Week and in partnership with 5VIE (one of the most visited districts of Fuori Salone) on Wednesday, April 9 2025, on the occasion of 5VIE Day, the Accademia Teatro alla Scala presents "Accademia Teatro alla Scala: the Crossroads of Creativity" which will take the public to the discovery of the many "paths" that can be taken in the field of performing arts.

The School that shape the future talents of the performing arts dialogues with the world of design and interprets the theme of 5VIE, "Invisible Harmonies", fully participating in the installation "Dove vuoi andare?" by Chendù feat. Fainplast, hosted in the first courtyard of Palazzo SIAM, where the Academy is located. Young artists will perform musical themes inspired by the dreamlike atmosphere of Alice in Wonderland, which constitutes the concept of the installation, whose title refers to the question posed to little Alice, uncertain about which way to go. "Which way should I go?" Alice asks the Cheshire Cat, who responds by asking her another question: "Where do you want to go?": to the same question that is asked by those who wish to start a successful career in the world of live entertainment, the Academy responds by offering the opportunity to identify clear objectives that allow one to find their own way.

The installation where Chendù feat. Fainplast's 2025 proposals will be exhibited will take the form of a labyrinth, in which, however, it will be easy to see a way out and will be animated by the presence of the Academy's musicians.

The program of the day will be particularly eventful. While in the first courtyard there will be the interaction of the students with the installation, in the second courtyard there will be various activities that will allow to understand how many professional paths are possible in the field of live entertainment thanks to open lessons, photo shoots, demonstrations and performances that will animate the space, while in the classrooms of the School it will be possible to attend the presentations of the courses, meeting teachers, students and former students now established.

If the demonstration of the Special Make-up Course will allow to see live how the special make-up effects necessary for the characterization of a character are created and the exhibition of wigs will allow to know the work of high precision and patience that their realization requires, a series of theatrical costumes will reveal the smallest details of the tailoring, while some intense photographs will revive unique moments captured on stage and behind the scenes by the Multimedia for the performing arts Course, also present with a real set. There will also be the String Quartet that will perform open air in the afternoon. These are just some of the activities proposed throughout the day by the Academy, which now covers almost all the professions of live entertainment.

The Academy, through four departments, - Music, Dance, Stage and Management – offers a very wide catalog, from advanced training courses for those who intend to specialize in specific artistic and technical fields to academic diploma courses of first and second level related to AFAM (Higher Artistic, Musical and Dance Education), which confer titles equivalent to university degrees up to first level Masters for those who have a degree, from training courses reserved for students with higher education diplomas to preparatory courses, which concern children between 6 and 10 years, as well as executive masters for professionals, workshops and summer stages.

The teaching staff ensures the most adequate preparation thanks to the artists and professionals of the Teatro alla Scala, who share the goal of developing the potential of those who are talented and determined to enter professionally in the field of performing arts. Thanks to a significant theoretical activity and an intense practical activity, on stage and behind the scenes, not only at La Scala and in Italy, but also abroad, the students of the Academy, after completing their studies, enter easily into the world of work. And, to respond constantly to the demands of the sector, the Academy updates its educational proposals every year, adding new modules, or launching new courses.

Among the novelties of 2025, which will be illustrated throughout the day, two proposals of the Management Department: the Master in performing arts management which, from 2025-26, will become "Global" and the Course for assistant stage director.

The day will be an opportunity, therefore, to know the entire educational offer of the Academy, a real journey to discover the many professions of the performing arts sector.
