One of the most innovative and progressive designers of its generation, the UAE- based powerhouse multidisciplinary designer, Roham Shamekh, unveils its Terminator capsule collection at Palazzo Litta during the 11th edition of 5VIE Milano, marking its return to Milan Design Week. With a frozen, silverish melting collection of scavenger's giant candelabras resonating with the urgent narrative of climate change, these jewel-like, textury monsters feel like exterminator giantissimo flower candleholders, echoing environmental transformation with Shamekh signature transgressive attitude. A single chair floats around them, evoking silent contemplation of mankind's collective processing error. Visitors are immersed in this experiential narrative around humanity’s most pressing issue, with a terrifically poetic language set against the baroque heritage of this hosting venue, charged with history. It seems the collection reflects on whether we have become our own exterminators. Nestled within the historic grandeur of Palazzo Litta, this apocalyptic candelabra floral collection melting down the earth's surface initiates a compelling dialogue between royal lineage and the contemporary imperative of conservation on the world stage within a larger sustainability discourse and triggering what is left for Gen Z. Are we being exterminated? Through masterful craftsmanship and innovative design, Shamekh seamlessly bridges past heritage with future sustainability with this frozen floral collection melting the earth’s surface.
