The new interior project endorsed by designer Maria Vittoria Paggini leads us to the rediscovery of the home as a place of intimacy, on a journey between vibrant chromatism and unusual decor to live the very essence of ourselves.
Welcome to Casa Ornella.
Welcoming us is the lady of the house, Maria Vittoria Paggini, who opens the doors of the transformist apartment in the heart of the 5Vie, part private house, part gallery, which this year promises to overturn the canons of living with an installation that reflect on the sense of nudity, in the unfolding of an erotic and symbolic iconographic paradigm.
At Casa Ornella nudity does not express itself in a reduction of stylistic codes and formal sobriety but becomes an intense and opulent stage where the body is staged. This being the only “undressed” element shown in its roughness and at the same time decorative texture of the interior project.
Abandon clothes, masks and superstructures, the home a place of intimacy, becomes the sphere of choice to celebrate a newfound authenticity by stripping away the veils of stereotypes.
Unveiling the Interior is the concept that Maria Vittoria Paggini is presenting at Milan Design Week 2024. An experience of the rediscovery of the self, by starting from the body, the instrument of a new palingenesis, resetting the sense of the obscene often attached to it.
“A maximalist house that, by crossing stereotypes,
anatomies, urges and deep energies, wants to recover
the authenticity of our humanity”
MVP
A fare l’Amore comincia tu.
There is a sense of an invitation to abandon modesty and reticence as soon as one walks through the gallery house front door. One tunes in to a design texture that, under Paggini’s creative direction, allows for dialogue between these skillfully orchestrated different worlds.
...let's enter and let ourselves be enveloped by chromatic virtuosity that dress in bold interior tones with a deco flavor.
The captivating, decisive nuances, chosen for the floors and apertures, are made with specific Molteni paints which allow them to capture together with the wall colours natural pigments from Paint Up. The eclectic aptitude of the owner follows through in the combinations of modern frescoes hand painted by Gouache, giving character to the lounge ceiling.
A timeless language pervades the environment where contemporary design objects are placed, such as the tables with translucent surfaces, Sandra and Raimondo, designed by Paggini who also presents Lunari, the capsule of switch plates created by Officine Morelli.
Whereas some striking pieces of lighting design are presented by international names such as Koen Van Guijze and Markus Biner to create evocative light scenography, While Tisettanta's sofas and armchairs, under the art direction of Alessio Bernardini, soften interiors with clean and essential lines. The precious fabric panels by Pierre Frey take center stage in various areas of the house.
Contemporary aesthetics are mixed with reinterpreted furnishings, often found in flee markets across Europe, to generate new visual harmonies that reveal unexpected furnishing accessories, including Aina Kari's candelabra, Pop Pot and Bevilacqua Architects's vases.
The bathroom is also the protagonist thanks to the original furnishings from the Girotondo line created by Mamoli Milano 1932 based on a design by MVP, including a sinuous mixer that integrates harmoniously into a washbasin by Gio Ponti.
The interiors are dressed in nudity, an oxymoron design that unfolds in the works of the artists involved by the Tuscan designer.
The male body is the protagonist of the wallpaper created ad hoc by Tatiana Brodatch and created by Glove, as are the lounge curtains illustrated in watercolor by Michele Chiocciolini who also designed the Kamasutra decoration in the wardrobe room, reproduced to scale by Gouache. Sébastien Notre, on the other hand, interprets the female body with the mural in the dining room, a magnetic expressionism, which also decorates the lounge while the shades become bright in the neorealist canvases of Michael Slusakowicz. Aleandro Roncara, on the other hand, decorates the walls of the bathroom with an optical pattern revealing unusual iconography.
Entry is forbidden in only one room, but you can look inside through a large porthole almost so as not to interfere with the dynamic illustration on the wall. It is the sleeping area, where a mural stands out on which the bed rests, an all-male scene by Damiano Groppi which recreates moments of Middle Eastern conviviality.
One of those projects that just happen, it was developed through the dialogue between MVP and the participating artists, a selection of people that see design, art and craftsmanship mix in a powerful combination of attitudes and forms, laying the foundations for a new style.
At CASA ORNELLA, the design week is further enriched by the novel sounds of sound artist Emmanuel Arthur (iEBA), who has curated a playlist specifically for the occasion to be broadcasted throughout the week. Additionally, the spaces are enhanced by the floral compositions of Fiori Cuori Veleno, while the green touches by garden curator Fabrizio Fedeli will create verdant oases in various areas of the gallery house
