The new Alberto Levi Gallery project for Milan Design Week 2024 reaches its peak with two breathtaking collections: Rugged | Unwind, carpets designed by Alessandro Pasinelli Studio.

A celebration of nature's beauty transformed into refined treasures. This is, essentially, the elegance of the jute carpet collection designed by Alessandro Pasinelli. The essential element is the sustainability of the materials used in their extreme materiality, given that the material is the fundamental heart in the development of each texture. Both collections promise an immersive journey through the raw beauty of nature and the art of innovative rug design.

RUGGED - INDOOR Collection

Palazzi
Buildings that become open-air paintings. Modern (and otherwise) architectures that give life to repeated linear plots
endlessly. An imperceptible texture projects them into sophisticated, current and never predictable environments. The color palette goes around the world deliberately maintaining the natural spirit at the base: Milan, Brasilia, Dublin, Utah.

Lapilli
The world of volcanoes and its many facets. A large regular braid creates shades made of small discontinuous chromatic fragments that make it unique and unrepeatable. Warm, delicate and with a slight contrast; the palette is a clear reference to the geological world and its complexity: Stromboli, Tambora, Santa Ana, Himalaya.

Nodi
Classic that looks beyond, refined, takes inspiration from horsehair weavings. An apparently regular weave with a movement reminiscent of a pentagram. The color nuances are inspired by the most characteristic and significant horse breeds: Tzumi, Azteca, Huracan, Indio.

UNWIND - OUTDOOR Collection

In creating UNWIND, a collection of outdoor rugs, designer Alessandro Pasinelli draws on the intricate symbolism of the winds and the essence of North African design, weaving both together flawlessly.
Invisible to the naked eye, but omnipresent in its influence, the wind has been a silent witness to the unfolding of civilizations, shaping the very fabric of human experience since time immemorial, with gentle whispers and stormy roars.
Seen through the prism of North African landscapes, each rug in the UNWIND collection encapsulates the enduring interaction between wind and earth. Embracing the timeless wisdom of the wind and recognizing its sacred role on the earth. Alessandro Pasinelli's drawings express elements that resonate with the natural beauty and atmospheric phenomena of the region. One breath at a time.

Khamsin
Khamsin is a wind that blows across the eastern part of North Africa for up to fifty days straight.
This design takes inspiration from this wind with the repetition of vertical and horizontal lines and with combinations of more or less contrasting shades. It captures the essence of the desert and sand, transforming the home into an oasis of warmth and comfort.

Ghibli
The Ghibli is a warm wind from the Sahara, it blows especially in Spring and early Summer, towards the Libyan coasts coming from the hinterland.
The geometric motifs of this design develop in a play of unique and bold shapes, helping to enhance the intrinsic beauty of a handcrafted carpet. The lines, sometimes light and sometimes dark, create a visual rhythm that captures attention and gives the carpet a vibrant personality.

Haboob
A Haboob is a very intense dust and sand storm triggered by thunderstorms that hit the vast desert surfaces of the Sahara.
The non-uniform diamond pattern blends tradition and modernity, bringing the rich Berber cultural heritage into modern and contemporary spaces. Its texture, woven with artisan skill, evokes the vast landscape of the desert, with warm and enveloping shades that recall the colors of the sunset on the dunes.

Simun
The Simùn is a very dry and extremely hot wind. It is generated by the meeting of the low pressures present in the Mediterranean Sea with the high pressures of the desert. It is a type of wind that brings with it very high temperatures.
The color palette ranges from the golden tones of sand to the more earthy tones of leather, creating a feeling of calm and serenity, typical of desolate but at the same time fascinating lands. Its slightly irregular texture adds a touch of authenticity, highlighting the inspiration taken from nature.

Harmattan
The Harmattan is a dry, dusty and very strong wind that blows, in the winter, north-east and west, from the Sahara to the Gulf of Guinea.
Abstract geometries and patterns traditional, typical of Berber carpets, are reinterpreted in a contemporary key, bringing modernity without compromising the authenticity of the artisan art. It is a harmonious union between past and present, offering a unique opportunity to bring the enchanting atmosphere of the Berber deserts directly into the home environment.

Kibli
It is a dry and very hot wind, bringing large quantities of desert dust and sand. Precisely because of its strength it is able to modify the landscapes it encounters by moving the sand from one place to another.
A design that draws inspiration from the desert landscape. The choice to maintain the irregular lines not only gives the carpet a unique and distinctive look, but also underlines the authenticity of the creative process. Every irregularity becomes a tangible sign of the expert hand of the craftsman.
