Daniela Forcella is the Milanese artist known for her iconic resin metal and plexiglass sculptures and for her passionate experimentation with new materials applied to artistic techniques. After the success of the exhibition "Cartographies," presented at the 57th Venice Art Biennial, the artist embarked on a new research that, through a work of synthesis and abstraction, led her to gradually detach herself from Pop language to arrive at the definition of a new "sign," dense and material, a fluid and natural gesture, almost a ripple left by the wind on the sand.

The pictorial cycle "ARITMIE," on view for the first time in the exhibition, sheds full light on the evolution of Daniela Forcella's artistic research, that gradual transition from a sign constricted in the geometric rigidity of orthogonal meshes and rigid two-dimensional grids, toward a gestural exuberance that is an evident trace of a change of gear.

The works on display in the exhibition curated by art critic Vittoria Coen, mirror the feelings felt, internalized and reworked by the artist, returning from an emotionally engaging trip to the land of Israel. From the initial awe where black predominates, color makes way, first emerging shyly from the background of a crack of bituminous material and then manifesting itself forcefully in the large red backgrounds. Finally, it is white that predominates, pure and free as in the large monochrome canvases or declined in an elegant palette of tonal variations, as in the more recent salt surfaces with material inclusions of strong expressive and symbolic value. It is a desire for transparency and honesty, for trust and hope toward humanity that gives form and substance to Daniela Forcella's most recent works.

The works will be exhibited from Nov. 8 to 18 at Spazio BIG SANTAMARTA, a prestigious location in the heart of Milan where contemporary art dialogues with the medieval architecture of a former 1200s convent.

For the occasion, the VanillaEdizioni publishing house will publish the volume "Daniela Forcella. Arrhythmias" edited by Vittoria Coen with a critical text by Marco Cerruti.
