SIGNORA LUNA is a design project that blends the expert techniques of ancient craftsmanship with the concept of design innovation. Stimulating collective awareness of what the past has handed down to us. Ancient arts and materials from Mother Earth meet and blend, giving life to projects that blend past and present. Unique objects, entirely handmade, express inspiration and creativity.
SIGNORA LUNA was founded in Calabria by architect Giovanna Sposato. Its primary focus is to showcase a region still little-known in this sector through a contemporary vision.
The first project analyzes the ancient technique of working Seminara Ceramics. Signora Luna collaborates with the ceramists of Seminara and, for the first time, brings the ancient technique of gold leaf to a mainly popular ceramic. This is how 'PROGETTO SEMINARA' is born, a collection of unique objects of its kind, conceived with the aim of telling the relationship between past and present.
In 2024, "PROGETTO MATERIALE – FATTO A MANO" was born, drawing inspiration, research, development, and fusion between different languages. Designing regenerative materials, paper becomes the primary element and symbol of creation. The project invites us to act consciously on waste, resulting in a collection of recycled objects conceived not only as functional objects, but above all as conceptual objects, associated with and closely related to "slow" production processes such as the classic papier-mâché, a humble technique of ancient origins, prized for its recyclable qualities; a dialogue that fosters greater empathy.
This will be followed in 2025 by the creation of chairs, three-dimensional objects resembling sculptures. The "POETIC CHAIRS" project also aims to raise awareness and reduce dependence on material waste by developing alternative and eco-sustainable solutions.
The project emphasizes a comprehensive approach to sustainability, considering the entire life cycle of packaging products. Each phase is designed to minimize environmental impact, from the sourcing of renewable raw materials to the use of natural, chemical-free materials.
In addition to their environmental benefits, the POETIC CHAIRS are designed with the end user in mind. These chairs transcend functionality and reflect a quest for harmony between society and the environment.
The collection emulates linear geometric shapes, alternating with organic silhouettes inspired by plants. This profoundly connects the poetic and the functional, evoking emotions that are not only visual but also tactile, reconnecting us with the slow pace of production processes.
