Laurent Maugoust came to decorative arts through fine arts and the academic path of interior architecture and design. Cécile Chenais through art history and the anthropology of gesture and space. For the past 20 years, they have signed prestigious hotels such as the Bowmann Hotel (5*****), the Westminster Hotel (5*****), the Saint-James Relais et Châteaux (5*****)….

They share an eclectic aesthetic foundation, a taste for understated elegance, clean volumes, and retain the memory of classical forms, which serve as framework for their designs. Their interest invariably focuses on what is unique, combinations of materials and motifs. They decorate walls or leave them bare to capture the spirit of a place, reinterpret it and transform it.

With the same intensity they put into their interior architecture projects, furniture design relies on the expertise of craftsmen with whom they have the pleasure of collaborating. Their formal rigor encourages them to support innovations and maintain intact the concern for the future of rare materials.

Their grammar includes the raw materials they love to work with, extracting extreme sophistication. Linen, wool, horsehair, stone, wood, and felt are transformed, woven, sculpted, assembled, and juxtaposed to shape custom made pieces with clean lines and minimalist aesthetics.
