Pia Mariani graduated from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan, where she received honors in painting. After that, she began working as a designer creating clothing lines and fashion advertisements.
In 1985, she began designing jewelry and wristwatches, and her success with designing prototypes for various Italian, Swiss, and Japanese companies resulted in the distribution of her creations to major stores in Tokyo.
Pia Mariani works closely with selected goldsmiths to study in detail micro-sculpture and techniques for creating precious objects, both as one-of-a-kind pieces and in series.
Beginning in 1997, she created her first signature jewelry collections. Called gold revolutions (i.e., Gold revolutions), they received major awards from industry trade publications and leading fashion magazines, and were presented at an event in Via
Sant'Andrea in Milan.
In 1998, Pia Mariani designed a jewelry collection for Orologeria Pisa that included the seasons necklace that was later presented at an event in the heart of Milan.
In the following years, she received great public acclaim for her collaboration with the Fabergé brand. By creating her classic eggs, Pia Mariani helped make the Fabergé brand famous. From her new Jewel-Project, Pia Mariani launched her own distinctive brand by entrusting the collaboration of the selected staff of goldsmith artisans.
At the end of 2005, she opened the doors of her showroom located on Via Verri, in the heart of Milan's fashion center, just a few steps from Via Montenapoleone. It was from this location that Pia Mariani, during fashion week, presented to her audience and the press the new Sheherazade collection and the Gabriel line, aimed at a younger clientele.
During this period, Pia Mariani began her relationship with Platinum Guild International, which culminated, between 2007 and 2009, in her winning two international awards, and the necklaces she presented were chosen for Platinum Guild International's advertising campaign, first in Japan and then in China.

Beginning in 2009, Pia Mariani's jewelry is distributed exclusively in the United States and Canada. In 2010, the Change and Five collections, "Five ways to wear a piece of jewelry," were presented during a major event at her boutique on Via Verri.
In 2011, for the second time, Pia Mariani participated in the Couture show in Las Vegas, the important event for the jewelry world. At the same time, the partnership between pia mariani and Platinum Guild International China developed a new collection for Chinese production. The testimonial of the campaign was the famous Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi.
On May 25, 2011, Bijouterie Italienne presented designer Pia Mariani and her new collection in Montréal. The most representative personalities were invited to the event. The biggest names in the press in Quebec spoke about the event.
At the 2013 Golden Foot award in Monte Carlo, attended by Prince Albert of Monaco, Lorena Baricalla, presenter of the ceremony, wore the Sheherazade necklace. For Just Italia, a leader in natural cosmetics, Pia Mariani created two exclusive pieces of jewelry for him and her in 2015.
In April 2018 Pia Mariani opened her renovated Pia Mariani jewelry atelier to the public at the Salone del Mobile, taking the opportunity to launch her jewelry online and present her new creation: the Queen.
Today the work of Pia Mariani and her collaborators unfolds in her atelier at 9 Via San Sisto, in the ancient heart of Milan, where it is easy to meet her, jewel among jewels.
