About

Alexandre Labruyère is a designer of contemporary furniture and decorative objects.

A jack of all trades, he is passionate about his job as a product designer, and has used each of his professional experiences to discover new facets of his work. He is inspired by his many travels and encounters to imagine, design and manufacture furniture and decorative objects.

Initially trained in industrial design, he has explored many fields of object design (transportation, art direction, luggage, etc.) this has enabled him to expand his taste for materials, and his skills in using them.

After several years in a large industrial sports company, he trained in 2019 at the Ecole Boulle in Paris, to become a cabinetmaker.

This training allows him today to approach many materials with techniques related to this art, giving life to his ideas and concepts.

The workshop//

It is within the COFABRIK, a shared creative workshop in Lille, that Alexandre chose to settle. This space hosts many creators: harpsichord maker, stained glass artist, ceramist, visual artists, guitar maker etc., thus nourishing exchanges around contemporary creation.

His work revolves around three fundamental axes: tension, lightness and simplicity. These three notions guide the research, the experimentation, the creation and the manufacturing of all the products in Alexandre's catalog.

They also give a structure and a common base to each object imagined and created by him.

The search for a taut but fluid line guides the designer's work, which is enhanced by contrasting colors. Simplicity, in its most positive sense, gives the object a form of obviousness. Obviousness of function and use, of the perfect line, and feeling.

For the universe created here is imbued with a familiar poetry: we are not faced with objects that confuse or disturb us. They come rather to consolidate our interior world, and call upon a memory of timeless forms.

The inspirations//

A keen cyclist, he has traveled to many places whose natural landscapes have left their mark on him, and now serve as inspiration for his creations. By carefully observing the elements of these natural sceneries, Alexandre draws from them the founding principles that will guide each collection.

The furniture and objects are like elements taken out of their natural environment: the reeds of the marshes of the South, the fields of wild grass of the North. All these objects create today the imaginary and poetic landscape, populated with references to a nature often wild but familiar to most of us.

Commitment//

All furniture is made to order and made to measure. In line with its natural inspirations, all raw materials come from the Hauts de France and are used in a reasoned approach. Oak, ash, sycamore, red oak are carefully selected directly to the saw mill.
