The "Crafting Connections" project is based on a combination of Poland’s rich traditional textile practices, aiming to preserve its cultural heritage while promoting sustainable development. The project juxtaposes elements of the cultural traditions of the Podlaski region with contemporary art and design, suggesting a playful and sustainable approach to heritage preservation as a fundamental aspect of a revitalized and culturally vibrant future, connected to roots and childhood memories.
"Crafting Connections" is a bridge between past and future, a language through which designer Małgorzata Truszkowska narrates the culture of her region, which is gradually disappearing with the tumultuous arrival of modernity.
Following the significant success of the "Crafting Connections" project in 2024, Małgorzata is now exploring new techniques and styles, presenting handmade decorative textile artworks. The collection consists of textile paintings inspired by the local traditions of northeastern Poland—particularly the Podlaski region and the city of Łomża, where Małgorzata comes from. She brings these traditions into the modern world through thoughtful design, carefully balancing forms and colors in harmonious compositions and developing the graphic imagery in her own distinctive style.
The materials she uses are natural, just like in the past, including fabric bases and various types of yarn such as linen, jute, cotton, and wool, sometimes incorporating painted elements.
