Redefining Azerbaijani Craftsmanship at 5VIE Design Week 2025

Embark on a journey of cultural exploration as CHELEBI, the epitome of Azerbaijani craftsmanship, graces the 5VIE Design Week with its exquisite furniture collection. Founded by visionary artist and a patron of contemporary art and design Aida Mahmudova, CHELEBI emerges as a beacon of Azerbaijani artistry, offering a curated selection of decorative items that redefine the boundaries of contemporary design. Each piece tells a story of heritage and innovation, seamlessly blending ancient techniques with modern aesthetics to create truly unique treasures for the home.

At the heart of CHELEBI lies a deep reverence for Azerbaijani architecture. From intricately crafted textiles inspired by ancient motifs to hand-painted ceramics that pay homage to the country's rich artistic heritage, every item in the collection reflects the spirit of Azerbaijan's vibrant cultural tapestry.

The latest furniture collection unveils a selection of meticulously crafted pieces, skillfully hewn from solid oak and handcrafted at a local Azerbaijani furniture atelier. Alina Kvirkvelia, co-founder of Saga bureau, authored the collection and supervised its handmade creation. Each item resonates with traditional architectural details and its recognizable features or styles. This fusion of modern aesthetics and timeless traditions gives rise to creations that seamlessly meld contemporary allure with the rich tapestry of Azerbaijani ethnic style. The brand collaborates closely with the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art, delving into a vast collection of applied art, and showing the world a modern interpretation of traditional forms, ornaments, colors and materials. This is how the frescoes of the Sheki Khan's Palace are reflected in the collection of table porcelain, and carpet patterns and national dress echoes in home textiles. Architectural treasures influence pieces of furniture, as well as the Tabriz school of the 11th century and archaeological discoveries from Baba-Dervish inspire clay candlesticks, vases, and statuettes.

Embark on a journey of cultural exploration at the Milan 5VIE Design Week, where Aida Mahmudova and CHELEBI celebrate the rich tapestry of Azerbaijani artistry and craftsmanship.
