In occasion of the Fuorisalone of the Salone del Mobile 2023, Studio Leggero in collaboration with 5VIE and curators Luisa Ausenda and Caterina Taurelli Salimbeni present "ill at ease," the first edition of the itinerant happening involving artists and designers among the most acclaimed on the international scene co-produced with Valuart, Particle, with the media partnership of ZERO. From April 18 to 22, "ill at ease" (which in a free and literal translation from English means restless at ease), grafts in several squares and courtyards among the most frequented Fuorisalone by joining the public instead of being joined by it and thus subverting the logic of one of the most world's most decentralized events.
Somewhere between a living room extravaganza and an art exhibition, "ill at ease" presents furniture design and digital creations with which the public can interact within a setting that is unprecedented because it is adapted from time to time to the squares and courtyards where it fits. The artists include Ron Arad (Israel), Hermine Bourdin (France/Czechoslovakia), Khaled El Mays (Lebanon), Diango Hernández (Cuba) and Six N Five (Argentina).
Each of them distinguished themselves by having developed a digital language unique experimentation, but with the common goal of disrupting the boundary between art and design. Thanks to the latest technology made available provided by Valuart, the initiative's main partner, the art exhibition digital within "ill at ease" is constantly evolving. A 7-meter van with indoor and outdoor projectors is transformed into a device that on the one hand activates the relationship with the city by projecting digital works onto the surrounding architecture, on the other hand welcomes visitors inside NoMa, the immersive Active Room created by Valuart.
Every evening from April 18 to 22, "ill at ease" welcomes the public in a different place and with a partner dedicated offering a unique experience in the company of music and aperitifs. Opening the journey of "ill at ease" is the beautiful Tomasi di Lampedusa Square in the 5VIE. It continues on April 19 in the turn-of-the-century villa of Action Agency, in Piazza Piemonte; on April 20 April in Via Tortona in the spaces of Spring Studios; on April 21 in via Orobia at Fondazione ICA; finally, on April 22 in a location that will remain secret until a week before the event. At each appointment will be attended by one of the artists with whom a made a podcast at a recording station set up on site. location. The latter will be available on all platforms connected to the initiative including Particle, a recently produced App created to combine physical and digital fruition and nurture the accessibility of the former through the ubiquity and durability over time of the latter.
Presented by Studio Leggero, curated by Luisa Ausenda, creator of the project, and Caterina Taurelli Salimbeni, "ill at ease" is a nomadic happening that borders on the public performance. An open-air living room accessible to all is in fact a symbol as much goliardic as political, reversing the relationship between public and private space and encouraging, in the spirit of Boettian extravagance, unexpected encounter, sharing and dispassionate exchange.
