Gilda Contemporary Art on the occasion of the "Day of the Contemporary" organized by AMACI, Saturday, Oct. 8 will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and invites you to participate in the performance SINTONIA, DIALOGUE BETWEEN DISCIPLINE and to visit the current exhibitions:
In Room 1 "Connective Fabric" the first solo exhibition of Gloria Campriani, an exponent of the so-called Fiber art, in the most contemporary modes and evolutions of the genre, and which sees textiles as the main material of expression. The "connective tissue" alluded to by the artist refers mainly to the concept of society as a "social body," composed of a multitude of individuals in constant mutual connection.
In Room 2 "SPECTRUM" photography exhibition by Silvia Serenari presented on the occasion of the 17th Milano Photofestival promoted by AIF - Associazione Italiana Foto & Digital Imaging.
The performance "Sintonia, dialogue between disciplines" connects two female artists with their respective expressive media, fiber art and singing. Interdisciplinarity, in the various fields of knowledge, allows a more extensive understanding of reality, since no discipline is able to give satisfactory answers in terms of global knowledge and there is no hierarchy among them, what counts is the valorization of the different point of view in the richness of comparison.
Alongside the increasing spread of specialized fields there is a growing need to bring disciplines into dialogue with the attempt to create new "attunements."
An essential component of wholeness in human education, interdisciplinarity breaks down the barriers that protect "knowledge" and expands knowledge without limits of application. Essential in research as in education, it facilitates that capacity for orientation in a society in constant and profound transformation.
The attunement (from the Greek "chord of tones") between the voice and the gesture of the hands shows that there is no privileged art form: to be in tune with the other means to follow the same rhythm, to accept the difficulties of a "ballad" to be done together, an action in which none of the parts emerges and the skills of each are enhanced and "resonate" at a higher level.
The focalizing scenic element of the performance is a frame consisting of a steel cable for a textile weave, on which the hands move as on a harp, crossed by the body in tune with the voice of the vocalist; voids and solids alternate as in music, which is based on the alternation of sounds and pauses, and the ball of yarn is the tempera that descends from the frame, glides like the voice, interrupts with the same intervals.
The duration of the performance is about 15 minutes and will be repeated to the audience 2 times, at 11.30 am and 5.30 pm.
During the performance, the painting appears as a musical instrument that builds textures.
During the planning time of the performance, which took place in several meetings, between the visual artist, Gloria Campriani, and the vocalist, Filomena Menna, two songs were created that enhance rhythm and coordination during the course of the activity and in which the mode used to get in tune is highlighted.
The first song develops during the effort to reach a "chord," as happens with the musical instrument through a slow and patient search that creates unity and, like a mantra, accompanies with repetitive gestures toward meditation.
In the second piece, the break occurs: the tempo is increased and the artist introduces a new textile material of a different color while the vocalist emits shouts, moans and calls. Bodies move, breathing increases and the heartbeat quickens.
The frame enhances and displays the artifact made together, "with bare hands and bare voice," the result of the synergy between the two artists.
