On the occasion of Milan Design Week 2022, HoperAperta, now in its fourth edition, proposes a theme related to the perception of space - The Absolute Surface - inspired by the work of the French philosopher Raymond Ruyer, an author who shaped some of the protagonists of 20th century French philosophy, including Maurice Merleau-Ponty, Jacques Lacan, Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari. As always, Hoperaperta brings architects, designers and artists into dialogue with Italian furniture companies in the creation of works of art design, and for the 2022 edition of the Fuorisalone the project extends to the city, proposing a double exhibition venue at the Banner space in Via Sant'Andrea in collaboration with Banner and at the terrace of the Hotel Ariston in Largo Carrobbio in collaboration with 5vie and Hotel Ariston Milano.

At Spazio Banner the exhibition project is divided into three levels of different and progressive 'surface relations': a relation linked to Space, between light (time) and matter, a relation linked to Form, understood as expression and emotion, and a relation linked to Image, understood as memory and symbolic form. On display are works by Maurizio Barberis, Armando Bruno and Alberto Torres Talamonte, Luigi Ciuffreda, Alfonso Femia, Duccio Grassi, Tiziano Guardini, Alessandro Melis with Liyth Musallam, Roberta Orio, Steve Piccolo, Sonia Ros, Davide Valoppi, Carmelo Zappulla.

The works have been realised with the participation of Cromonichel, Julia Marmi, Materica, Oemmebi, Dress Wall, Sprech, Danilo Trogu, Italian companies representing excellence in the processing and finishing of materials such as ceramics, metal, stone, marble, Plexiglas, and operating with a sustainable approach of enhancing the environment in which they operate.

At the Hotel Ariston, on the other hand, the exhibition, which acquires the subtitle Domestic Cosmologies, presents a collection of 13 unique pieces, including vases and other amenities understood as Symbolic Forms. From the Holy Grail to Duchamp's Pitale (Fontaine 1917), the thousands of forms of an object as old as mankind, here conceived not in its, albeit necessary, functional valences, but in its possible aesthetic and symbolic values.

On show are works by Alessio Bertallot & Pointillismo (sound installation), Cristina Fiorenza, Ivan Forcadell with Juan Salvado, Analogia Project, Irene Nordli, Anne-Sophie Oberkrome, Matteo Pellegrino, Rudy Ricciotti, Zanellato/Bortotto.
