After two years of research, Garnier & Linker are glad to present all this work in one exhibition that will take place during Milan design week. Their hybrid creative process keeps on developing on new applications: a balanced blend of design, craftsmanship and sculpture that is shaped between studio and workshop. From this method a new series of lightings and furniture in bronze, fine wood and stone has been developed.
A new field of research led to the creation of a collection of home accessories. Vases, candle holders and containers are made in Garnier & Linker preferred materials and techniques, but is also complemented by traditional Japanese handicrafts comprising Urushi lacquer, Washi paper and special-enamel Gaku ceramics.
Joint work with Japanese workshops is also represented in the exhibition by a new series of furniture made in Kitayama cedar, a unique wood that grows only in the north ok Kyoto. New finishes have been created to emphasize its naturally bumpy grain. At last, two collaborations with contemporary artists will be disclosed: one that highlights the engraving work of Clara Champsaur, the other the paper creation of Japanese-American artist Maya Kitakado Cannon.
