"Valerio Adami: no day without a line"
by Luciano Caprile
“Nulla dies sine linea”.
This is the motto and the operative project of Valerio Adami: the need for daily exercise, constant and concrete, to progress. An invitation that applies to any human activity and gives meaning to the whole of existence.
Ambrosiana Art Gallery is pleased to present a review of about forty works, including drawings, maps and canvases that retrace the artistic story of Valerio Adami from the '60s with Look turned to (1961, oil on canvas, cm. 100x66)Calipso and Odysseus (2000, acrylic on canvas, 97x73 cm). The half century that separates them tells the story of a stylistic evolution traced by those lines that accompany the progressive steps of the artist’s creativity.
In addition to the appreciation of artistic evolution, a personal language that makes the art of Adami international, the works on display are bearers of philosophical-political reflections, as the leitmotif of this exhibition, which, especially with the works of the 70s, are the expression of a sublime fusion between gesture and thought.
The exhibition, accompanied by a catalogue curated by Luciano Caprile, will open Monday, June 6, 2022, in conjunction with the Milan Design Week, at the headquarters in Milan, via Sant'Agnese 18, and will be open until July 22.
