Ercole Pignatelli was born in Lecce in April 1935. He began painting at an early age: he was seven. He moved to Milan very young, in the 1950s, with the intention of combining his roots with international art.
With Lucio Fontana, who saw him as an artist 'free from enslavement', he began an artistic association that lasted until 1968, the year of Fontana's death.
Ercole Pignatelli has a residence in Garzola, a peaceful corner where he collects and elaborates his most intimate thoughts; he loves to go down to Como, to immerse himself in the picturesque old town.
