OPUS is the project that ROU Materiaal presents at Fuorisalone 2021_5VIE.
It includes the exhibition of Rou Materiaal pieces belonging to the DOMUS E TERRAE collections: a constant dialogue between pieces that want to express a strong bond of the human being with the Earth, trees, rocks and their transformation and processing by the hands of the man leaving a mark on them.
The pieces of these 2 collections are united by a strong presence of stone and brick materials such as cocciopesto, used to give physicality and three-dimensionality.
TERRAE
The pieces of the TERRAE collection try to enhance the physicality and materiality of raw materials, enhanced through chemical reactions caused by the duo, who want to represent the escape of matter from the belly of the Earth.
DOMUS
The pieces of the DOMUS collection are inspired by the floors and vestments of the houses of the Roman era.
Typical flooring models are mentioned through the use of the traditional cocciopesto, reinterpreted in a contemporary key by ROU Materiaal.
The insertion of earthenware, used in a contemporary key by ROU Materiaal, is intended to be a quotation of the opus signinum, an ancient technique used for wall and floor facings.
