Hive Lamp
The idea behind the hive lamp comes from the bees' fly. Have you ever wonder why swarms create so bizarre geometries? The base of this phenomena is Fibonacci sequence. This sequence of numbers is behind many natural phenomena, like the shape of galaxies, flowers, shells and many others.
Sponge Lamp
The sponge in nature is a filter, the structure of this filter is common to other phenomena and in 2D it is depicted by a fractal which is called "Sierpinski carpet". In 3D the Sierpinsky carpet becomes "the sponge of Menger". The squares are scaled and moved of a fixed angle. By moving, according to the border conditions, the range of the angle and the scale we can depict the structure of a sponge. This lamp is the base of the shape of the whole sponges. The top of the lamp is made in PLA which is a thermoplastic based on sugar or maize and it is completely biodegradable. The bottom is made from a carved block of aluminum. The carving is made by expert Italian craftsmen in Italy and the aluminum is an eco-friendly material.
