The exhibition GLASS UTOPIA, realized on the occasion of the DESIGN Canberra Festival 2019 and curated by the Milanese studio Mr. Lawrence for Craft ACT: Craft + Design Centre, presents a selection of 24 contemporary glass pieces by well-known Italian and Australian artists and designers. Like a realized utopia, GLASS UTOPIA recounts a new Renaissance of glass, a material that lives again today both locally and internationally, showing how the power of beauty is stronger than ever and how creativity knows no boundaries.
The exhibition presents the work of six Italian designers - in collaboration with furnaces and glass island companies par excellence: Murano - and six Australian designers: Elizabeth Kelly, Federico Peri, Gala Fernandez, Jenni Kemarre Martiniello, Liam Fleming, Matteo Zorzenoni, Mel Douglas, Peter Bowles, Stories of Italy, Tom Skeehan, Federica Biasi, Zanellato/Bortotto.
