"Give me a foothold and I'll lift the world up for you" said the mathematical philosopher and physicist Archimedes (288 - 212 B.C.), meaning by the world the whole Earth that can be lifted through the lever, while about 1700 years later looking at the sky Galileo (1564 - 1642), a philosopher astronomer and mathematician, added: "Eppur si muove!", talking about the Earth no longer standing still, but moving around the sun.
The designer duo OVO (Maurizio Orrico - Enrica Vulcano) combined these two scientific truths to create a paradoxical mobile seat called ARCHILEO. Starting from the wheelbarrow, one of the first, if not the first mechanical vehicle, OVO at Marcel Duchamp or Achille Castiglioni, designed a seat that can also be easily moved. With a simple gesture of re-functionalisation, OVO has transformed a means of transporting things into an armchair that can also be moved with the person seated if necessary. Sitting can also become a game, putting together childhood and adult life: movement and stasis. So the wheelbarrow armchair ARCHILEO also becomes madeleine proustiana that brings us back to our childhood, the age when everything is a game and where even a working tool is used by children as a means of play. At this point it becomes evident that sitting in ARCHILEO relaxes us and amuses us at the same time, making us happy to rest and aware that we can move.
Art and comfort to look at the world from a new point of view: a tool normally used for agricultural or construction purposes becomes a tool to reflect on the future.
Finally, we like to emphasize that it is not foreign to the fact that this armchair represents a joyful novelty also inspired by the OVO logo, where the O is the wheel, the V the arm-lever and the other O the case: O
So if the armchair also lifts and moves, feel relieved and run to try it.
