Park of murals

Scenario is East Naples, in the most desolate and complex Neapolitan suburbs, in the Ponticelli district, the youngest territory in terms of demography among the ten of the Neapolitan conurbation and with the highest rate of school dropout and unemployment not only among young people, as well as kidnapped by criminal forms that deprive the prospects of development. A network of social, cultural and voluntary organizations that is trying to revive communities has "adopted" since 2015 the Merola Park and its inhabitants, convinced that a process of gradual conquest of the beautiful and the good can trigger healthy courage to undertake a different and affirmative destiny, first of all for children.

The Merola Park of Ponticelli is a residential complex born after the earthquake of 1980 that today welcomes about a thousand people. Inside the Park, now known as "Parco dei Murales", a project of artistic requalification and social regeneration started in 2015, on the initiative and exclusive care of INWARD Osservatorio sulla Creatività Urbana. The general aim of the program is the territorial animation of desolate and complex scenarios as marked by non-rewarding levels, where it is perceived that the lack, among others, of urban decorum and identity disaffection to the relationship with the context of everyday life.

A renewed consideration of one's own territoriality wants to be reconquered, on the whole, and should be so first of all in favor of minors and young people, through the implementation of both immaterial workshops of social regeneration and, seizing the relative stimuli, material, through works of pictorial requalification and other interventions, two halves necessary for a program of urban creativity that in such contexts seems strongly necessary.
