Dana Barnes

Dana Barnes is an American artist known for her works based on the craftsmanship of fabrics and yarns, primarily felts. Conceived and created in her studio in the Lower East Side of New York, the projects embody Barnes's deep fascination with materiality, process, and the experimentation of innovative wet felting techniques using masses of wool and exotic fibers with contrasting materials such as concrete, stone, wood, copper, clay, and resin. The result is sculptural compositions, objects, and site-specific installations that defy conventions and challenge the viewer's preconceived notions of materials and context.
