Lior Shachar (1967) lives and works in Tel Aviv, Israel. After
graduating from haMidrasha Art School, in 1998 she opened her ceramic
studio which has developed into her unique brand 1220 ° ceramics,
specializing in hand-made designs of ceramic tableware and kitchenware.
For
over thirty years, Lior Shachar has developed her unique brand 1220 °
ceramics, specializing in hand-made design of ceramic tableware and
kitchenware. Years of experience working with clay have evolved into the
development of a special technic, in which liquid clay is cast into a
slab by free hand, therefore, each item is one of a kind and
unrepeatable. Lior has an exceptional design language, combining
aesthetic values with everyday functionality. Her creative vocabulary is
based on the juxtaposition of shapes, motifs, techniques, inspirations
and influence from numerous sources. Her designs highlight the
properties of the raw material, having unfinished edges that create a
somewhat rough look, yet a very sophisticated one. Simultaneously,
qualities such as slickness and smoothness offer a sense of precision
and are inviting to touch and use.
For example, Minimalist art
and architecture have significantly influenced Lior's design language,
well noted by the principle of allowing the material itself to become
the subject of her investigation. Therefore each Bowl is one of a kind
and unrepeatable.
