Born in Madrid Gala Fernández studied art and design at the Facultad de Bellas Artes de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid, graduating in 1992. She then continued her studies in design at the European Institute of Design in Milan. He co-founded with Riccardo Marzullo in Madrid a studio called Assembla Design.
In 2005 Fernández moved to London and founded his eponymous studio: Fernández's multidisciplinary work ranges from art to design and deals with interior and object design, as well as publishing.
From 2012 to 2015 Fernández divides his time between Mexico City - where he launched his creative and multidisciplinary studio called Piopio Design Labs, in collaboration with Berta Roda - and Madrid. He continues to work with Berta Roda and Piopio Design Labs, and in 2016 the duo launches an art and design gallery called Bergman Rd. Gallery.
Since March 2016 Fernández also works with CuldeSac Editions, a project with the design and communications studio Culdesac, based in Valencia, which researches and reviews special design projects in collaboration with designers and artists from all over the world.
