Wycliffe trained as a cabinet maker and made furniture for business and private collections in London and Ireland for many years. After returning to university to study materials practice he developed a pared down technique investigating and attempting to show the inherent beauty of timber and its fragile and robust qualities, without the distractions of form and function.
Wycliffe works from his workshop in south London making work to commission for private clients, art specifiers and speculatively for galleries and art fairs. His work has been shortlisted for the Aesthetica Prize, The Wood Awards, Jerwood Makers Open and was a finalist in the Loewe Craft Prize last year. He also works as a tutor at UCL Bartlett School of Architecture, West Dean College and the Welsh School of Architecture, Cardiff. His work is exhibited in the US, China, Europe and London and is in some important private collections.
