About

Secci was founded in Florence in 2013. Since then, the gallery has gained an international reputation by carrying out a high-quality and curatorial-driven exhibition program. Situated in the historical 15-century Palazzo Ricasoli, the Florentine space has always been an incubator for artistic creativity. The gallery’s rigorous curatorial approach has fostered international collaborations and partnerships by involving critics and curators such as Pier Paolo Pancotto (Villa Medici, Rome), David Anfam (leading authority on modern American art and Senior Consulting Curator at the Clyfford Still Museum di Denver),  Essence Harden (Head Curator at the California African American Museum - CAAM, Los Angeles), Edoardo Monti (curator and founder of Palazzo Monti, Brescia), Angel Moya Garcia (Curator at Fondazione Bevilacqua la Masa, Venice), and Sergio Risaliti (Director at Museo del Novecento, Florence and Guest Curator of the Modern Art Department at Museo e Real Bosco di Capodimonte).

In 2021, the gallery started opening its door to the Post-War avant-gardism thanks to the extensive retrospective dedicated to Titina Maselli. The event also marked the starting point of a few important collaborations between the gallery itself and some renowned Artists Estates. The gallery now presents and develops a multidisciplinary program and a cultivated mix of Modern and Contemporary art that makes them co-existing, by following the cross-cutting nature of art itself.

In the same year, Secci opened a second venue right in the heart of Milan. This new opening has allowed the Gallery to host larger shows, shifting its attention to more ambitious, site specific projects. The expansion has inspired the launch of NOVO, a new Milanese program dedicated to contemporary experimentation seen through the eye of one single curator, today recognized in the person of Pier Paolo Pancotto. Art historian and critic, Pier Paolo Pancotto is also curator of the Art Club exhibition program at Villa Medici in Rome.

At the beginning of 2023, a Residency Program in Florence has been inaugurated with the purpose of supporting the talented emerging artists of our generation, inviting them to live and work within the aerial perspective of a connoted city such as Florence. The residency will function as an incubator for cutting-edge creativity and will give the artists the opportunity to directly engage with curators, institutions and collectors as well as to inspire new ways of delving into a unique artistic discourse.
