TEARS

My project for the Fuori Salone is part of an ongoing series of photographs and sculptures inspired by tears, also the title of the oeuvre. It is an ode and glorification of the tear to highlight its importance and beauty. It started as a desire to give more value to my tears and consequently myself. At the beginning it was an experiment of introspection, to figure out the root of my heightened sensitivity and understand why so many consider crying such a form of weakness. What I discovered instead was their fundamental and critical role. This universal act, the act of crying, is a distillation of our varying emotions and thus essential to each being. Such surrendering to an overpowering feeling then becomes a surrendering of the ego. Even if the tears may have been caused by egocentric purposes, once the body regurgitates that which stirs its existence, there is nothing more than an honest distillation of selfless beauty, claiming no resistance.
