Urban Attitude

On the occasion of MIart and DW 2018, the artist Francesco Garbelli will hold an exhibition at the Gilda Contemporary Art gallery, supported by a series of urban interventions in the context of Historic district of Milan. In his characteristic communicative style, the language of road signs - through which he makes real incursions into the urban fabric of great intellectual involvement and with a strong ironic component - the artist will perform installation interventions in the gallery and in the adjacent streets that will stimulate questions and reflections on some of the most urgent contemporary issues, which are so dear to him, such as the precarious balance of coexistence between human beings and cars, society and technology, and which will entail the involvement of important local realities such as the design atelier of BigApple in Piazza Mentana (Mentana Square). And it is precisely on this square, on its particular environmental situation, that the involved operators would like to focus the attention of the media. In fact, through its social channels, it will be launched a call to creation where people will be called to actively participate with the request to create a personal photographic image of the place, each one interpreting the problems of a penalizing use of urban spaces to the detriment of the community (also considering that, adjacent to the square, there are five school colleges). Finally, one of these images will be chosen and will become part of the installation that Francesco Garbelli will create on site.
