Meeting Chairs are presentfor the tenth timeat FuoriSalone Milan in various versions. This comfortable system and stylish folding chairs are beloved!

At Rossana Orlandi (via Bandello 14) it have been covered with soft leather in spring colors. At the Fabbrica del Vapore (via Procaccini 4) for the SaloneSatellite event. 20 Years of New Cretivity are shown in red leather and white yarns for in/outdoor. Finally at Cavalli e Nastri, and in the general neighborhood of the Cinque Vie, Meeting Chairs are available to passers-by for one minute rest in vintage version and metallic gray.

From the concept to the production, every object hides a story.

Milan, spring 2007. First rays of sunlight. Last touching-ups before the opening of Salone del Mobile. The first prototype of Meeting Chairs is finally finished, ready to be displayed to the public audience. Test bench. The product is embraced because it settles an original solution to the traditional seatings for public space. The influx of visitors put the Meeting to trial. In the evening, the prototype returns to laboratory for necessary adjustments and a series of fine-tunings. An intense collaboration, in fact, was committed from then on, between the Belgian designer Laurence Humier and the Italian manufacturer. Three years of work for optimising the project into the smallest details. What would usually happen for projects that were destined to last.

New York, fall 2010. The Meeting Chairs are added to MoMA’s collection. Concept and realization are perfect. Functional, symbolic and poetic. The mechanics is intuitive, the fluidity and the synchronization of movements of the object seduce the Acquisition Committee of the museum.

Weil am Rhein, Fall 2014. The Meeting Chairs have earned the recognition of the Vitra Design Museum, where they join the most important chairs in design history.

Laurence Humier, Belgian, is an engineer by training and works as a designer in Milan. Her research brings together an expressiveness and an experimental side, as she personally integrates technical and constructive know-how with local industry. Devices and concepts are at the base of her projects, which are subsequently translated into everyday applications: the Meeting Chairs, before becoming a system of foldable chairs, were first a synthesis of three distinct mechanical movements.
